Privacy policyHome Inventory Manager
Privacy policy.
In short
- Everything you enter stays on your phone. There is no account, no server and no cloud copy.
- The app has no internet permission and asks for no other Android permissions. It cannot send your data to the developer or to anyone else.
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no notifications.
- Files you export or share leave the app. From then on they are yours to look after.
Who this policy is from
This policy describes how the Android app Home Inventory Manager handles your data. For every question about it, and for any privacy request, there is one address:
What the app stores
All of it is entered or chosen by you, and all of it stays on the device.
| Data | Examples | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Home profile | Name of the home, flat or house, note | App-private storage |
| Rooms, categories, tags | Names, colours | App-private storage |
| Items | Name, room, category, quantity, purchase price, purchase date, shop, condition, brand, model, serial number, notes, warranty length | App-private storage |
| Photos and documents | Pictures of items, receipts, warranty documents, manuals (JPEG or PDF copies) | App-private files folder |
| Maintenance tasks | Title, due date, repeat, history with notes | App-private storage |
| Loans | Name of the person an item was lent to, dates, note | App-private storage |
| Stocktakes, lists, change log | Marks, results, list names and notes | App-private storage |
| Settings | How far ahead “due soon” looks | App-private storage |
Names of people in the Lent section are free text that you type. The app does not read your contacts.
What leaves your phone
Nothing, unless you export or share it.
The app has no internet permission. It cannot send data to the developer or to anyone else, and the developer has no access to any user’s catalogue.
A PDF, a CSV file, a backup file, the text of a stocktake result or a single photo or document is created on the phone when you ask for it. It is then either handed to the Android share sheet, where you choose the receiving app, or written into a folder that you pick in the Android folder picker.
After that the file is outside the app. You are responsible for where exported files are kept and to whom they are sent. They contain serial numbers, purchase prices and possibly photos of your home.
Permissions and Android’s pickers
The app requests no Android permissions.
- Photos are chosen in the Android photo picker and files in the Android file picker. The app receives only the item you select and keeps its own copy.
- “Save to a folder” uses the Android folder picker. Android then asks you to allow access to the folder you chose. The app writes only the exported file there.
- Pictures are re-encoded when they are copied into the app, which removes embedded location and camera data.
Android backup
Android’s backup is switched off for this app, and explicit backup rules exclude the catalogue and its photos and documents from Google’s automatic cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer.
Moving to a new phone is done with the backup file, which you create and restore yourself under Export & backup. It holds the catalogue data without photos and documents. The developer cannot recover a catalogue for you.
Third parties
None. The app contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, tracking or cloud software, and it has no accounts.
The About screen has links to this website, to this policy and to the e-mail address. They open in the browser or mail app installed on your phone; from there on, that app’s and the website’s own terms apply.
Keeping and deleting
- Data is kept until you delete it. There is no server copy to delete.
- Deleting an item removes it and, at the next start of the app, its stored photos and documents.
- More → Home profile & settings → “Erase all data” deletes everything in the app.
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
- Exported files are not touched by any of this. Delete them yourself where you saved or sent them.
Your rights
The developer holds none of your data. If you send a request for access or erasure under the GDPR, the answer will explain exactly that. Your catalogue is on your phone, where you can see all of it and erase all of it yourself. You are still welcome to write to the address above.
Children
The app is a household tool for adults. It is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone.
What the app does not do
- It sends no notifications. Due dates are shown inside the app only.
- It does not synchronise your data, back it up to a cloud or let the developer recover it.
- Its totals are the purchase prices you entered. They are not a valuation and are not, on their own, proof for an insurer.
- Its backup file does not contain photos and documents.
This website
The pages of this website set no cookies, contain no analytics or advertising scripts and no forms, and load their fonts and images from the site itself. The provider that hosts the site may keep ordinary technical server logs.
If you write to the address above, your e-mail address and message are used to answer you.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your data, this page is updated and the date at the top changes.
